AI is moving forward at breakneck speed. Even in the short months since the first volume of this series was published, we’ve seen stakeholders lobbying the White House and Congress for regulatory action; AI doomers have gotten louder; breakthroughs in processing power and speed have been announced; and Hollywood writers and actors have even gone on strike together, for the first time in more than 60 years, over AI.

We can expect this pace of new developments to continue, and even increase, probably for some time. All we can do is try to keep up, and take up the persistent cause of keeping all this new information integrated in a forward-thinking, action-oriented frame. This new volume surveys the latest round, with commentary and caution.
