Wordstorming: A Lifetime Walking in the Footsteps of Isaac Asimov
About
Isaac Asimov was a legend, both as a science fiction author and science writer. He wrote over 500 books and countless articles during his lifetime - famously contributing to every topical category in the Dewey Decimal System, from science and technology to history to literature and religion. He amassed a vast following that spanned generations; had he lived into the 21st century, he undoubtedly would have had a hugely popular blog, Twitter account, and Facebook page.
Scott Robinson was introduced to Asimov’s work as a boy, devouring Foundation and I, Robot and then proceeding to his science essays and histories. He resolved early on that he wanted to be a writer and a scientist, emulating Asimov’s versatility, breadth of knowledge, and boundless curiosity. As his career unfolded, he consciously pursued each of these dimensions of the Good Doctor’s work in his own efforts.
Wordstorming is the story of that journey, beginning with an unlikely first short story sale to the legendary editor/agent Forrest J. Ackerman, then proceeding through years of journeyman journalism, eclectic higher education and science writing, to a mid-life return to fiction. It is a celebration of the writer’s life, with stories of the trials, challenges, and joys common to most of those unusual folk who are endlessly compelled to put pen to paper.
